Atlacomulco Reading Rooms

PVO Mexico and Construyendo Comunidades Integrales (Building Integrated Communities) will establish two reading rooms at two native communities’ elementary schools of the State of Mexico: Bobashi de Guadalupe and Santo Domingo Shomeje.

The construction project will be carried out by Construyendo Comunidades Integrales, A.C.

Attention and follow-up to the reading rooms will be provided by PVO Mexico, A.C.

Both organizations will collaborate fully till the project’s completion.

Construction will be done with prefabricated walls, according to the technique and prototype developed by Construyendo Comunidades Integrales, and it can be finished in three days.

The communities where the two reading rooms will be established at will participate with the following:

  1. Placement of the reading room’s hard surface.
  2. Voluntary participation in the reading room’s construction.

Additionally, the schools’ teachers are committing to open the reading rooms in the afternoons and use this time to promote reading.

PVO Mexico will devise the reading room’s functioning model (a program replicable in both reading rooms), as well as:

·        Quarterly program with reading-promotion related activities.

·        Training of personnel in charge of the reading rooms

·        Supervision and monitoring of the activities carried out at the reading rooms for a minimum of one year.

Construction and all necessary equipment for each one reading room has an estimated cost of US$13,500.00
